The Providence Art Festival is growing in its 3rd year. This year, organizers are expanding, and planning two Providence Art Festivals: the first in the Spring of 2011 on Saturday June 4th, and the second in the Fall of 2011on Saturday September 10th, both from 10am to 6pm, on Westminster St. between Eddy St and Mathewson St in the heart of Downcity Providence.

Once the Thayer St. Art Festival, the Providence Art Festival is excited to call Westminster St. in Downcity Providence home. The City’s Creative capital is alive with fine arts, crafts, music and food. Enjoy the Providence Art Festival while supporting one of its biggest assets, local artists and entrepreneurs! This year’s festival will host over 100 juried local artists, crafters, musicians, food vendors, live entertainers, complementary children’s activities and more!

In 2011, the festival reached out to over 400 local artists, musicians, street performers, chefs, and local non-profit groups. The applicant list is tremendous. With far more artists than booth space, the applicants will be juried to include wonderful local talent. The artists accepted will be showcasing photography, painting, sculpture, jewelry, personal accessories, apparel, hand made gifts, children’s clothing, stationary, apothecary, jams and jellies, and more. There will be treasures for everyone to take home.

Westminster St. will be closed to traffic, from Dorrance St. to Mathewson St, and filled with artists selling their work, street performers, the Big Nazo, Ebisu Restaurant, El Rancho Grande, Like No Udder Ice Cream truck, the Tazza Caffe beer garden and grill, FREE children’s craft activities from RIMOSA (Rhode Island Museum of Science and Arts), face painting, and live local music all day. Live music begins at 1pm and goes through 6pm at the Grant’s Block park.

The festival is sponsored by Providence Monthly, In Downcity, Cornish Associates, the Downcity Merchants, RIMOSA (Rhode Island Museum of Science and Arts). The Providence Art Festival is a family friendly event supporting urban renewal, local arts, music and food!
